IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR:

Retired and Former Members of the Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Pension Plan for Hourly Employees, the Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Pension Plan for Salaried Employees and the Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Wrap Pension Plan

Essar Steel Algoma Inc., (the “Company”) has obtained protection against its creditors under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).

 Our firm has been appointed by the Court as Representative Counsel to represent the interests of each retired member and former member (or the surviving spouse of any such member) of the following pension plans:

  • The Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Pension Plan for Hourly Employees;
  • The Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Pension Plan for Salaried Employees; and
  • The Essar Steel Algoma Inc. Wrap Pension Plan.

A copy of the amended and restated order of the Court appointing us as Representative Counsel is available here.

Representative Counsel’s mandate is to represent the interests of the retired and former members of these pension plans in relation to the relief being sought by the Company in the CCAA proceedings.  The court has authorized us to consult with the presidents of SOAR Chapter 7, SOAR Chapter 17, and Social Club 1009 to take their advice and instruction regarding the Company’s requests. The terms of our appointment as Representative Counsel provide that our fees will be paid for by the Company.

If you do not wish to be represented by our firm you may opt out of this arrangement by completing the Opt-Out Form available here and return it to us on or before November 30, 2015

We will continue to provide information to the presidents of SOAR Chapter 7, SOAR Chapter 17, and Social Club 1009 as the CCAA process continues so that they may provide us with further advice and instructions.
