Karen practices in the areas of labour and employment law, human rights, pension and benefits, professional discipline, and civil litigation. 

Before joining Ursel Phillips Fellows Hopkinson LLP, Karen articled with the Constitutional Law Branch at the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario. She graduated from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law and has a B.A. cum laude in economics and history from Columbia University.  As a law student, Karen was co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law and Equality, led a working group on children’s rights in Haiti, and volunteered with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Karen was a member of the winning team at the 2009 Wilson Moot, a national appellate advocacy competition focusing on equality rights, and argued before a distinguished panel at the 2009 University of Toronto Grand Moot.

Karen brings to her work a commitment to advancing human dignity and equality in the workplace.  She is a member of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
