Green & Chercover welcomes two new lawyers

Green & Chercover welcomes new articling student
January 2010. Green & Chercover is pleased to welcome Jennifer Micallef to the firm as an articling student. Jennifer graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in the summer of 2009, and is participating in Green & Chercover's unique joint-articling program with CAW-Canada's legal department. Jennifer has just completed her rotation with the CAW and will spend the next five months articling at the firm.

Important Changes to the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
Effective January 1st, 2010, there have been important changes to the rules of court in Ontario, including the monetary jurisdiction of the Small Claims Court and the Simplified Procedure process. Katie Rowen, of our Civil Litigation Practice Group, is available to answer your questions regarding how these changes may impact your ongoing or future litigation.

Joshua Phillips to Speak at the Police Association of Ontario
Joshua Phillips will be speaking at the Police Association of Ontario's Annual Conference on Police Employment on March 2, 2010. He will be speaking as part of panel discussion on the subject of “Misconduct and Disability”.

Simon Blackstone and Carlo Di Giovanni admitted to Green & Chercover partnership
Green & Chercover is delighted to announce that Simon Blackstone and Carlo Di Giovanni, who were both associates at the firm, have been admitted into partnership as of January 1, 2010. Susan Ursel will be speaking on the topic: "Barriers to Workplace Diversity - Building Inclusive Workplaces" at the Ontario Public Service Labour Relations Conference on February 25, 2010.

Joshua Phillips to speak at Canadian Civil Liberties Symposium
Josh Phillips will be speaking at the Canadian Civil Liberties Symposium: Rights Watch 2010: Tracking Canada’s Civil Liberties and Human Rights Landscape. Josh will address the topic of freedom of association and discuss the recent Supreme Court of Canada case Attorney General of Ontario v. Michael J. Fraser et al. at which he appeared as Intervenor counsel.
